Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There is a huge many-tree blowdown fully blocking the trail about ~100 feet north of the South Carter summit. I didn’t see a good way to navigate around it other than removing snowshoes and scrambling over at least 20 feet of snow-covered branches. Lots of other blowdowns on the ridge but the rest were navigable.

Comments
Comments: Nineteen Mile: Well trod and could be easily bare booted. Maybe 4-6 inches of packed snow. I used snowshoes which also worked.
Carter Dome: Loose soft snow but broken out. Snow shoes are probably best.
Carter-Moriah: This was not broken out and had huge drifts and very soft snow. Also lots of blowdowns and trees bent over the trail. I wound up crawling under things several times. There was one person ahead of me out to Carter Dome who did the worst of the trail breaking. A group of four hikers also came up from the hut so by the time I headed back North the trail was in decent shape. The trail out to South Carter was similarly unbroken since the most recent snow. I got just past South Carter and hit the huge blowdown mentioned above and decided to turn back given the late time and general exhaustion.

Mt Height was not broken out.
