Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The old crosssing was not broken out but we went that way and had no trouble with the crossings
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: We took a lot of time clearing blowdowns today. I think we cut more than 20 but there are still quite a few including at least 5 with tunks that will take a bigger saw. The worst blowdown is after the ridge near the spring. We improved a way around it but it is still difficult
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: There was one dog who was stuggling in deep snow near the ridge but seemed happy except for that area

Comments
Comments: I used spikes from the car to the beginning of the climb then used snowshoes. Another barebooted almost halfway up the climb without problems then put on snowshoes. The trail was well packed until 0.5mi from the ridge then became mostly blown in and difficult. Even with snowshoes I went up to my knees in a couple places. A skier passed us just before the ridge and that helped break the trail for us significantly. First time I've seen a skier on that mountain. Unfortunately, 2 people without snowshoes summitted after us so I think there will be significant post holes for whoever goes up next. We used the old river crossing and had no problems but no one else had been that way.
