Fee lot. Outhouse facility. Lot had plenty of open slots today. The access roads were a packed snow cover that presented no problems for driving. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No significant water crossings. The small run-off waterways posed no problems. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
As noted in previous reports, there are many blowdowns on the Crawford Path above 3,000 feet elevation. All were easy to go around, over, or under. Someone had cut many of the downed trees which improved passage. |

 | Comments: |
MicroSpikes or other light traction worked well. I used last year's somewhat worn microspikes. The surface was hard packed snow with occasional ice spots. The ice was easily traversed using traction.
Had a nice talk with Hiker Ed. There were many Maine women on the trail today. Also met hikers from NH, MA, VT, and Long Island NY.
Great views up the southern Presidential Range to Mt Washington as well as Mt Jefferson. Good view to the Montalban Range.
As expected, plenty of Gray Jays out today. No wind! |
