Comments
Comments: Parking lot had 10ish cars when we arrived at 6:45. Spikes worn door to door. Valley Way is 70% ice flows, 30% nicely packed snow. First mile is sidewalk conditions, then up to the tent site is all ice. From the tent site to the hut was a mix of well packed snow and loose snow. Not enough to warrant switching a snow shoes, It was a little tricky in the morning when it was ice flows were frozen solid but later in the day it was more crusty, giving us some more grip. There were only a few blow downs easy to navigate around. Most were frozen into the ice and snow so there was no moving them.
Up osgood to Madison there was much less snow cover. Lots of exposed rock and some icy spots.
We headed up golfside to Adams without issue. Very little drifting, rocks are still exposed so trail is fairly easy to follow. He took Airline out and back to Adams. Lots of exposed rocks and hard packed snow.
With unknown conditions on the lower part of airline we chose to descend back the way we came.
