Comments
Comments: Very nice day out there. Mild temps and the sun came through for a bit. XC ski area and Gale River road are all bare ground. Snow doesn’t show up until about 2000 feet elevation on Gale River Trail. I threw on rock spikes and it was mixed patches of snow/ice and bare ground mostly up until you get on Garfield Ridge. GRT was hard crusty snow, mostly packed but chopped up with a decent amount of post holes to the hut. Up Galehead was well packed. Up South Twin has seen some traffic. There’s a decent snow base but snowshoes worked best here for me. From South to North Twin, only had one or two sets of tracks. More of the hard crusty snow that went quickly with the snowshoes. Will need a few more passes before it’s decent though. I didn’t go down North Twin but it looked well broken out from what I could tell. Trails are in decent shape overall. Good time to grab these
