Put the rock spikes on for first 1-1.5 miles of Ammo. Switched to trail crampons and kept them on the rest of the way. The trail was packed down snow until just below LOC, where it got a bit icier. Monroe was also mostly packed down snow, except that one tricky spot about half way up - there was no crust, and I ended up sliding about 25 yards on the way down. Yikes. Between LOC and Washington a mixed bag of crusty snow and a few small drifts. The cog had mostly small drifts and crust up high, then down to the bone in sections past Waumbek Station. |
