Comments
Comments: Until the next snowstorm snowshoes are not needed for Mount Garfield. Gale River Road had about an inch of powder over it, fast and easy. Trail conditions have a little bit of everything; bare ground, dusting, soggy, water running, frozen mud, ice, semi snow covered ankle rolling rocks. Good snow conditions finally reached about a half mile from the Garfield Ridge Trail junction with fresh powder over a mostly snow covered and packed trail. I barebooted up the the junction then put on my rock spikes and kept them on until a half mile from the trailhead so I could move quicker descending but they can be removed whenever you feel most comfortable.

Rock spikes or studded shoes are fine for now.
