Comments
Comments: Hillsounds door to door. Not much ice on the trail other than at the rivers. Base layer of snow adhered to the rocks and provided a grippy surface for the micros and made it the easiest time I've had going up/down the steep sections. Some drifts/loose snow blown into the track between the peaks wherever the wind hit the trail, but everywhere else was great for the spikes. One guy had done sunrise and used snowshoes on the return from the base of the Chimney to the lot [thank you!]...everyone else was in spikes or crampons. Both chimney bypasses had been used, I went up/down the first (lower) option. The sunrise guy was headed to do the Hancocks for an encore...chapeau! Total of 7 other hikers enjoying the bug free conditions for the day.
