Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Monadnock, NH
Trails
Trails: Marlboro Trail, Dublin Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, December 21, 2024
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Both roads passable to the trailheads. Old Troy Rd (becomes Old Dublin Rd) was marked as closed and unmaintained for winter, however had lots of signs of recent travel and was easily passable to the trailhead parking, where there were several other cars, and beyond all the way to Monadnock Drive and Route 124. Shaker Farm Rd was passable all the way to the trailhead from Route 124 but not between there and Old Dublin Rd.
Surface Conditions

Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None of note
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Good condition overall. The lower part of Marlboro is not blazed but probably should be, although easy enough to follow. Both trails have some eroded sections that should be re-routed. No blowdowns of note.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not allowed anywhere on Monadnock, unfortunately.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: Not enough snow for snowshoes yet but hopefully soon. Ice was mostly avoidable but spikes were helpful. Above treeline the trails were a bit tricky to navigate in the snow - GPS was helpful.
