| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
As of 2:15pm on 12/24, Ravine Lodge Road was NOT plowed. No idea what they’re doing for road maintenance this year, but given the tomorrow is Christmas, I wouldn’t expect the road to be plowed tomorrow or even Thursday. |

Several problematic blowdowns above 4000’. They have some awkward herd paths around them, but those herd paths will work for now. The blowdowns will probably be there until Spring given the amount of snow up high. |

What a gem of a day today!
We got first tracks on Gorge Brook, and it’s maybe the best snow I’ve hiked in in years. Soft, fluffy powder as far as the eye could see. 3 of us broke trail on the way up, and we ran into one other person ascending as we were descending. All 4 of us in total were in snowshoes door to door. At this point, literally leave any traction that’s not snowshoes at home. The trail is still very unconsolidated, as the snow is super fine and dry. The trail has an opportunity to be set up as a great track if it gets some more snowshoe love.
Probably 4-6” of powder down low, increasing to over a foot up high. Our tracks up top were already being blown in by the time we were on our way back, so I imagine there won’t be much evidence of our travels up there.
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and happy hiking! |
