On Cliff Trail there is a tree down just before the trail makes the steep climb to Ted's Trail. On Ted's Trail there is a huge multi-limbed beech down that definitely made a sound whether anyone was around or not. It requires going off-trail and will need a chainsaw cleanup. |

Noted new signs at junctions along Ted's and Carolyn's.
I don't do Christmas but did spend some quality time today with friends Carolyn, Cliff, and Ted.
If you're looking for great snowshoe conditions, this mountain isn't ready yet; there just isn't enough snow. If you're looking for a great spike hike, you're in luck. I suppose much of this route could have been barebooted but I went with spikes to avoid slippage and because there are some pretty thick icy spots on all these trails. Snow depths are minimal, only a few inches up top.
Gorgeous, crystal clear views today. Only a whisper of wind and full sun meant I could hang out at the cliff for a while. |
