Comments
Comments: Motha Rush'ya and I got a very late start due to morning festivities. Trail is loose slippery powder made for a strenuous and slow accent (for me at least). There was one snowshoe track out and back to summit. Now there are three. It's still not at all consolidated and snowshoed are required to not destroy the track. My weight was enough to sink in a little on the last climb exposed section before ski trail. East section of rim trail isn't broken, so the ski trail is utilized for a short portion just before the summit. This is normal in winter. Some it was Christmas, we weren't able to stop for a warm snack in the summit Cafe. Didn't see any hikers all day, but did see a group of four skiing down. It was tough to stay on our feet headed down in a couple more steep sections. We tried not to butt sled, but it was unavoidable, sorry. Sledding was slow with all the powder. I don't think there's enough snow pack for crampons.
