Comments
Comments: Very interesting trail conditions today, and felt like a spring day the second I got out of the car. Packed my snowshoes because I didn't know what the ridge between the Kinsman's would look like, instead I wore my rock spikes from the junction of Bald Peak to the summits. Below Bald Peak (2400') - no snow, just mud and dry trail. Once I past this junction, the trail conditions turned to ice, wet and slippery roots, and small patches of snow. Once on the Kinsman Ridge Trail, it was an effort to stay in the middle of the trail to avoid postholing. Snowpack was clearly much deeper up here [which is why we bring snowshoes]. Didn't stay long on N Kinsman as the summit was socked in. When heading back from S Kinsman it started to open up with some nice views of Franconia Ridge and Cannon. Everyone I saw today wore spikes and most people were carrying snowshoes.
