Comments
Comments: The hard crusty snow in the woods was ideal for a fun bushwhack over a NH500 peak on my way to Carrigain today. A very enjoyable detour from the usual route, only adding 400’ or so of elevation and not much mileage. I couldn’t locate a register on the summit, but enjoyed the views through the trees. I did put snowshoes on to descend the NW side to get back to the trail. I didn’t need them heading up the ridge directly west from the trailhead, the snow was that hard. Snowshoes were useful again on the top half of Carrigain. I saw only 2 other solo hikers on this sunny but sub-zero day.
