Comments
Comments: Needed a hard day to get the legs back in gear after a few weeks laying low with various sicknesses, as expected the effing Carters delivered. We wore spikes door to roadwalk. Carried snowshoes and could have used them in a few spots but it was borderline. Easier to crawl around with spikes on. It’s drifty up there in all the usual places, but nothing major as the precipitation was light (the wind was not).

North Carter Trail and Imp have some soft ice but also some really hard slick ice so be careful on your decent. Route finding is a bit of a challenge at times with the blowdowns but again, I wouldn’t consider them to be biblical. It’s more of a pain in the ass obstacle course.

That being said, if you need the carters for winter or for your grid this month, they are rarely spikeable door to door and route finding up there gets 10x harder while trail breaking. They aren’t great, but they don’t get much easier than this. Go get them before the next storm hits the reset button.
