I did the loop over Peaked counter clockwise. Lots of solid ice down low leading to the incline up Middle. About 3/4 of the way up Middle Mt. Trail there is a large ice bulge across the trail. I had sharp Hillsounds on and was able to get across it. Steep drop-off on one side and a steep bank on the other. If in doubt, climb the steep bank to get around. The rest of the way was good hard packed snow with patches of ice. On the way down I put on my Hillsound Pros. The ledges had lots of solid ice, but mostly on the flat areas. Regular spikes would work fine. Nice day. No winds to speak of. |
