Comments
Comments: Trail in good condition. Spiked (Hillsounds) to summit, used snowshoes on descent from low end of open area below summit well into the glade. Descending, appreciated full crampons below (along the glade) for a couple of bare ice areas, YMMV. Saw several other hikers, most spiking, two snowshoeing. Snowcover is still shallow low down, I think most hikers would find it too bony for snowshoes until the upper part of the glade. Only a little new snow today.
This is a trail (like the Ammi) that can be better (subjectively) in winter than in summer, with rough areas smoothed over by snow etc. Today the mudpits above the lookout were well frozen and covered with snow, though lower down there is still evidence of unmitigated erosion.
