Comments
Comments: Still a little bony from the TH to about 3300 on Ammo. Ravine, smooth sailing from there to Lakes. Crawford Path was mostly smooth. Then it was really bony in places on Gulfside and Jewell above treeline. Hiker's choice as to their preferred traction- I wore snowshoes most of the way, switched to spikes on Gulfside, then back to shoes going down Jewell. Worst of the bony conditions was on Jewell above treeline. Could probably have spiked the whole way but wanted the heel elevators and drift traction from snowshoes, especially up high in the trees.
A little hairy going up Monroe in one spot, some folks may want an ice axe for additional confidence. Think snow!
