 | Comments: |
From the parking area to the summit, the packed surface was covered with a shallow layer of fresh powder, never more than a few inches until the usual drifts near the summit. Spikes worked fine as did snowshoes, which we carried and one of us used from about 4000' to the summit.
Fun hike with Chris and Renee. Wild day up high with gusty winds and intermittent whiteouts. Glorious scenery of snow-laden trees and swirling clouds, despite limited distant views. 15 year anniversary of my spending the night at Moosilauke's summit in a snow cave I fashioned after being caught in an unrelenting whiteout. |
