Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of blowdowns on Wildcat Ridge. I counted 40 between A and D peaks and about a dozen more headed up to A from Carter Notch. On the uphill, a couple had trail diversions around the blowdown because they were completely unmanageable.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one very happy pup on the way down 19 MB. Definitely good for them on that trail, but I don't think I'd take them up WRT right now.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful day up on Wildcat Ridge. I think I was the only one up there all day. OAB via Nineteen Mile Brook

Spikes on from start until the junction with Wildcat Ridge Trail. The section just below the junction is a bit windblown but manageable without snowshoes. Snowshoes went on because WRT appeared unbroken from the junction; however, it was just extremely windblown for a short while (on the way back, all my tracks from going up had been blown away). The trail up to A was broken but had a thin layer of powder from last night. Some blowdowns required creative workarounds--limbo, jumping over, side paths.

Up on the ridge the trail was somewhat packed, although it clearly has not been super well-trafficked. Lots of areas with soft snow, so definitely be careful if you're up there in just spikes (wouldn't recommend). There were a few postholes, particularly between B & C, but nothing too crazy. Fast moving on the way back across the ridge. Spikes went back on a little below the junction because it got a bit icy. Only saw 3 people and a dog all day and none were past the first junction on 19 MB.

Overall, a great day. The track up there is in pretty good shape, but definitely still recommend snowshoes--can't go wrong when you're prepared for whatever the conditions look like.
