A FINE day to finish up my January ever-calendar-day list. We donned snowshoes almost immediately as why wait when you can televate! While not needed, they make this trail pretty much easy mode. Mostly filled in down low, some boney spots but there is more snow on this side for sure than say a waterville or franconia notch. Dragstrip the entire way with great footing of hard pack with loose granular atop. As noted in other reports throughout the WMNF (and beyond) the amount of snow dramatically picks up at just about 3400'. Ran into hiking royalty, Rachel, who has already completed said 366 list. "Like a sharp stick to the eye" is a perfect summation. |
