Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw one happy pooch out today. Her owner commented that every time she got worried that her dog was getting cold, the pup would dive into the snow and roll around. I'm not sure how it would be on the summit, though.

Comments
Comments: Note: Mizpah Cutoff at Crawford Path was NOT tracked out as of noon today. If it's in your plans, bring snowshoes! Also, clear tracks ended at the summit of Pierce and turned back, so if you're looping, bring snowshoes!

Crawford Path was in great shape. I mostly used spikes on my way up, but based on a recommendation, switched to snowshoes about 0.25 miles from the summit while it wasn't windy and I had good tree cover. For what it's worth, it might have been OK in spikes, but snowshoes were nicer. I wore them the rest of the day contributing to the packing of the trail (at least 10 people helped with that today; another decent number were in spikes or even in bare sneakers (?!)). Of course, there's more snow coming, but at least we'll have a good base.

The biggest points of discussion today were about wind and views. There were plenty of views at the top; it was gorgeous! There was definitely wind and it was certainly cold, but actually better than on some other occasions. I wasn't wearing goggles and I didn't see others donning them either. I found it possible to lollygag at the summit and take in the vista.

This day was a treat. I usually have 2-3 kids with me on a hike, but my birthday present to myself was taking the day off of work and sherpa-ing for some alone time. It was just me, myself, I, and the mountain today! It made the reunion even sweeter.
