Comments
Comments: To the junction, spikes is likely the best. From there on, snowshoes. From the hut to Carter Dome, it was deep and unconsolidated. One party went before us but I was still wallowing in knee deep snow, sliding down a foot for every two forward. Crampons and ice axe would be the best choice if you can stand to carry them. Hight had fantastic views and unusual rime ice. Hight to Zeta was a wonderful butt slide. There were several parties out on snowshoes, the trails are consolidated but not packed. Tonight's snow may change everything.
