Comments
Comments: A perfect day on Adams, had it all to myself. Trail had been traveled before the last snow, so only an inch or 2 of new snow, until the drifts just before hitting treeline. Snowshoes were good until past treeline. It was my first time on this trail but I had no trouble following the cairns, I took a compass bearing anyway, as it’s very straight but exposed and was in and out of the clouds. The snow had mostly blown off leaving lots of rock but no ice. Bare booted for a while, then microspikes to cross a snowfield that was pretty firm, not steep though. Breezy but not too cold at the summit today, goggles were nice to return facing the wind. Back in the woods I did some “telemark snowshoe skiing” down the steep parts, but there’s still some rocks to watch out for under the deep pow.
