Put snowshoes on at the car. It was very windy and cold on the road walk. Silently wondered if we should turn around. Once we got onto the trail and into the woods it was not windy though it was still very cold. The trail had been nicely broken out a few days earlier but with new snow and winds we had to break it out again. 3-5 inches of new snow to knee deep drifts. The last 1 mile the tree branches were very heavy with snow requiring us to crawl underneath. Hoods up to avoid snow down your neck was key. It was very cold and windy on the summit. We labeled it the coldest hike of this winter season. We only saw 2 other hikers, one without snowshoes which must have been difficult for him.
