Although we did not crash the gate doing ninety-eight, a spectacular day was had. A darkish sky gave way to sun and the breeze cooled me from my schvays at the most appropriate times. Snowshoes were the order of the day, and worn by all....except for one person who was nearing the summit as we were about .3 on the descent. The fact that he had spikes did not register with us until we started seeing indicators of a Postholio...and then eventually rototilled trail on Stony Brook...
Alas...there would have been a fabulous base underneath what snow will come tonight. There is one small section of significantly bent tree bows and high snow pack about .2 from the top, maybe less, that even us short folk had to crawl through.
Shared the summit with an acquaintance/wonderful human who came up from Bangor Street and experienced what only could be described as a morass. Take it slow tomorrow, kids, and don't crowd the plow. |
