Comments: Keep in mind my trail report is prior to the storm we are getting Saturday 2/8/2025.
My advice, for what it's worth: If you need all 3 Carter's for your winter 48 start at 19 mile brook, and take the Carter Dome trail to Carter Dome(the winter route), don't go to the hut. After summitting Carter Dome, you'll have to backtrack to head over to South and Middle Carter. It'll add about 1 mile, but well worth avoiding going up Carter Moriah trail from the hut, it's super steep and not well traveled. I'd also avoid Mt. Hight, it wasn't broken out from either side, and there were many spruce traps on the Carter Dome side. The IMP ledges have awesome views, but that trail wasn't broken out at all, until I reached the ledges. If you want to cut a little mileage off, you could avoid going over to the ledges, and cut out earlier.

One more helpful tip. If you're planning on warming yourself at the Carter Notch hut, they only light to woodstove from 4pm to lights out.
HAPPY TRAILS EVERYONE!!!!
