Snowshoes door to door for the Twins and Galehead. Large group from AMC Boston chapter did most of the trail breaking for Dad and I, we caught up to them near the summit of North Twin. Trail breaking wasn't too bad thru 6-8" of fresh powder, with the help of some dead reckoning to stay on the monorail. Number of fir traps close to the summits, some pushing thru the puckerbrush. Twinway down to the hut was an unbroken cruiser. One major blowdown near the summit of Galehead that was tough but manageable to get around. Gale River Trail was broken out by someone coming from Garfield. Watch out for snowmobiles on the Gale River Loop Rd. Good hiking! |
