Lot does not get plowed in winter. I drove in with 4x4 light truck. An alternative parking area is at Wellington State Park across the street, just before the kiosk, on the right -- usually space there for 2-3 vehicles. |

 | Comments: |
The trails we used were all packed since Saturday's storm. In great shape, fluffy surface and firm base. Encountered one bare-booter halfway around Goose Pond and discussed the advantages of snow shoes over post-holing but was left with the same old look (deer stare in the headlights). Been winter hiking over 45 years and still don't understand why people think sinking in and losing ground (back-slipping) with every step is more efficient. It was a lovely day in a winter wonderland, and the view from Little Sugarloaf across Newfound Lake was spectacular as usual. |
