 | Comments: |
Used snowshoes for the entire trail and the unplowed access road. Half the six hikers used snowshoes. Microspikes can be used as long as one stays in the middle of the snowshoe track.
The snowshoe track had a relatively consolidated base with a thin loose snow surface. Lots of snow on the evergreen boughs at higher elevations requiring some minimal ducking (nothing extreme).
Trail broken out past the Mt Waumbek summit to the blowdown observing area aside the Kilkenny Ridge Trail. The trail is not broken out to the Week summits.
Decent views today. The Presidential Range peaks were mainly enshrouded in clouds. There were great views on the Northern Presidential ravines. |
