Started at 6:30 AM and the lot quickly filled up. Almost everyone today had snow shoes on there was about 25 other hikers and only a few in micros. Even the road walk was easier and snow shoes so we kept them on for the entire day.
The trail is very well packed like a sidewalk. It was a pleasant surprise.
About 1 mile before the junction snow got a little bit less consolidated, and there was some drifting, but should be taken care of after today’s snowshoe. This section also had quite a few blow downs and leaners after to go under or around. After the junction near the summit, the snow was much more loose and there’s several incorrect paths to the summit but hopefully the traffic today made it clear which one was the right way to go. With the incoming snow most of this will be useless, but there is a definite firm based to work with after the new snow falls (unlike gale river trail). |
