Parking/Access Road Notes: Winter lot is plowed, but the snowbanks are quickly encroaching. Someone decided to park blocking the gate later in the morning. Considering the road is plowed behind the gate to get to the lodge, that seems like a very unwise idea.

Comments
Comments: Very little traffic evident since Thursday's storm. Looks like a couple of inches of new snow down low, growing to 8" new higher up. Snowpack is about 3 feet down low and around 5 feet further up.

Unfortunately a postholer went to town on this same loop, postholing up to their nether regions in some places, and falling into deep spruce traps. They also cramponed through alpine vegetation. Par for the course with postholers.

We wore snowshoes roundtrip, including above treeline. Reckless to be up here without snowshoes or skis with this much snowpack. Upper Gorge Brook Trail goes a bit astray as it reaches treeline. There is some hard pack above treeline on Gorge Brook and a short stretch of blue ice descending the Carriage Road. Deep, deep snow as you drop into the scrub on the Carriage Road, with just the treetops showing. Other than the postholer, only ski tracks on Carriage Road. No sign of any activity on Glencliff or South Peak Spur as of mid-morning.

Beautiful morning with a single-digit start and clear skies overhead. Not too much wind on the ridge. Winter wonderland.
