Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at Lafayette Place. There are no parking signs downhill from where the snowmo trail crosses the access rd so that snowmobiles can see if anyone is coming. That will not deter people from parking there anyways apparently. Can't imagine coming back from a hike and your car is gone but I guess people would prefer to risk that then walking a few extra feet.

Comments
Comments: 2nd one up Fishin' Jimmy this AM, started at 6:30am. Really nice snowshoeing up to the Kinsman Pond junction. No ice to speak of, and the snowshoes gripped well even on the steep sections of FJ. By the time I was heading down barebooters had tilled it up a decent amount so the grip wasn't as good. A couple of snowshoers would go by and make the trail nice again, and then 30 seconds later more barebooters...I think the most curious thing is people sinking in up to their shins and carrying snowshoes. Between N and S peak, the snow was deep. It doesn't seem like anyone had gone through in the last week. Even with snowshoes, I was sinking in up to my knees in places. All will be filled in tonight, but given the number of people heading up on my way down, the base underneath the new snow will be packed. Snowshoes are going to be needed for the foreseeable future...
