Comments
Comments: This turned out to be an almost 10-mile hike and was a great choice for current conditions as about 75% of it was snowmobile trail. :) We saw only maybe a dozen snowmobilers and only two walkers on Dolly Copp Road.

No one had visited Triple Falls - Proteus, Erebus, and Evans - in quite some time. We broke through deep snow to the end of the trail... and beyond a little ways, about .25 mile from the road. The falls were completely frozen but still beautiful.

Continuing on... we found the road up Pine Mtn. to be snowmobiled (yay). We took the unmarked shortcut from the Horton Center to Chapel Rock side path (closed during summer months when private Horton Center is in session), where the views are spectacular. We then broke out Pine Mountain Trail to the summit (a short portion of which was snowmobiled) and down to the awesome ledges, uncovering the Carol Horton "bench" for butt-chilling break.

Did not continue down Ledge Trail having already hiked that one in winter, as well as Pine Mtn. Trail to Gorham.

Backtracked to Pine Mtn. Loop Trail for the toughest trail breaking of the day, but it was only a short distance. Quick walk back to the car!
