Today was a good day to test some navigation skills and a great leg day with the new snow and high winds blowing snow. Breaking trail wasn't too tough until 3,400 feet when the drifts got deeper. We got off trail a few times, fell into some spruce traps, and all the fun winter stuff. The approach to the summit didn't look familiar there were mounds of snow, but we made it. On the way down there was no sign of the trail we just broke ten minutes earlier. Epic snowshoe skiing on the way down, sliding and trying to stay upright.
*Many areas of the base of the trail were unconsolidated; type 2 fun. Finished early before the big wind gusts at noon |
