 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I was able to drive up the Class VI part of Halfmoon Pond Rd north of Martin Rd to the summer parking lot where the M-S Greenway crosses the road. Some seems to keep the Calss VI part plowed, even though the signs warn the town doesn't maintain it. The parking lot had been kept plowed before the most recent round of storms, so it is a bit deep now. My Subaru with snow tires had no trouble getting up to the trailhead. |

 | Comments: |
I hiked south on the M-S Greenway to get to the summit. I had to break trail, but there was a clear trough to follow. With the snow that started at the end of my hike, whoever follows me next will have the same trail breaking experience. There were a couple spots, including to the Max Israel Shelter, where someone coming out of Martin Rd had broken parts of the trail. There were fresh moose tracks ahead of me going up and over the summit. |
