Comments
Comments: Windy day! Pulled into the parking lot at 10am hoping there would be someone already on trail. To my luck, there were a group of 5 from PA starting their hike up Jackson, so I was able to join them. They took lead breaking trail and we worked together to pack it down. The last .2 miles before the summit were tough, even with the teeth on the snowshoes we still had to use some nearby branches to pull ourselves up. Donned all my gear, including goggles for a very quick trip to the summit as the winds were gusting HARD. On my way back down much of the perfectly packed trail was covered with snow drifts. Unfortunately a group barebooted to Elephant Head. Only saw the group I hiked with and one group of 2 near the summit today, seemed like most people took the day off with the windchill.

Snowshoes are required the next few days. You will not get far without them.
