 | Comments: |
We broke trail up valley way through some deep snow drifts. The top section above the tentsite has some really sketchy sidehill sections that we had a hard time with. Above treeline there were alot of exposed rocks. We ended up snowshowing all day but there were many sections where microspikes would have been fine. We bushwacked around to the right to avoid passing through the jefferson snowfield since it looked dangerous to cross over. There was thick hard ice along the cog but otherwise it was not very icy out there. The snow drifts above treeline were mostly solid, so we did not have to do much trailbreaking once we reached the madison hut. The trail going up monroe from LOC had a tough scramble but you can go around to the right to bypass it. Once we got into the trees near eisenhower there were alot of branches to duck around. Crawford path down from pierce was in good shape with a few postholes. We didnt encounter any other groups all day. |
