Snowshoes door to door today. 5 of us hiked it today. From the trailhead to North Hancock, the trail is well packed down, perfect for snowshoes. Clearly, lots of folks turned at North. From North to South, the trail was broken out, but barely. It looked like maybe 2 pairs of snowshoes tops had gone through. Not too many bad blowdowns, but we did fall in a couple spruce traps. The descent off south was also very loose. We tried our best to pack it down a bit, but it was so loose that it was merely a controlled slide for most of it. But, the whole loop is now well-broken. Snowshoes remain the best traction. |
