Comments
Comments: Forecast was kind of a gamble today but I lucked out and had views at both summits, and it was totally clear as I was driving away. 5 hours round trip for this breathtaking hike. Trail was hard packed for spikes with a dusting on top, gradually deepening to 4”. I put snowshoes on around the tent site as there was dry powder blowing around filling in the trail quickly. Another hiker was keeping up with me in just spikes. We both braved the sustained winds of 70+ mph, barely able to stand up without going on all-fours for balance. I got a little windburn (on my exposed lower back, of all places) luckily 2 face masks were enough to save the skin on my face, it would have been hard to change into a third mask. I also had snow forming inside the layers of my windbreaker, never seen that before. Saw one other guy coming down off Adams but he didn’t stop to chat.
