Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking at Wellington State Park boat ramp/beach parking lots -- although do note that they are relatively plowed but I wouldn't want to try without 4WD or snow tires - there are a couple inches of new snow/slush and it's lumpy. Also, there are 2-3 open spaces right near the park kiosk, across the parking area from the trailhead.

Comments
Comments: Well, this was not my first plan - was going to ski from Cardigan Lodge but couldn't get a spot in the lot there, so, why not dub around here. PRetty decent snowshoe footbed but barebooters were starting to churn it up. Really a mix of conditions this morning. The snowmobile trails did have a lot of traffic, but, they were super friendly. Backwoods Trail (Blue Trail) did not look like it had seen any traffic. So, once i got to top of Sugarloaf, decided to head north down to Bear Mtn Rd. That section with the sidehilling was horribly difficult for me - seemed icy under the recent snow so I basically had to face the mountain and edge my way down - took a long time but at least I didn't slide. Super pleasant time overall.
