A FINE day in the forest was had. We have reached fool's spring. I wore a tank top until the very end. I brought great shame to my family having to layer up due to a rapid onset snowstorm (like, immediately the weather changed.) Trails on Mt. K are good shape, could spike to about the last water crossing if so desired, it's mainly ice to this point. After that, snowshoes are the best. We used them car to car. All but four jamokes, with sleds in tow for some reason like they where eight years old, where in snowshoes. The problem is these schmucks are likely the last off the trail, so their 4-8" with deeper post holes mixed in are likely going to be frozen in place after tonight. The GOOD news is, they came up F'in Jimmy, so coming from this side only the ridge would be destroyed for you. Ran into Perry, Dan McKee and Tucker (WHO'S A GOOD BOY!!, Zachary, and Perry. Lots of snow grenades falling, it was 45 on the ridge in brilliant sun. Great views from South, but noted angry clouds moving in. Can confirm clouds where angry. This should freeze up amazing for tomorrow into a drag strip. Of note down low, there is some very fresh rogue indiscriminate cutting of trees that make no sense off the trail. There is one large 12"+ yellow birch that someone utilized a chainsaw on, who clearly does not understand how to use one, and made it maybe half way through before giving up, creating quite literally a widow maker. If that goes, it will kill someone, and you would have no idea its half cut. I mean who does that |
