Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: North Twin Trail is in pretty good shape with just the blowdowns mentioned when I hiked and wrote about this a few weeks back. Thanks for your hard work, Zippy!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My pup had the last laugh, today. Not only did she race up and down the snowy trail like a nutter but she caught and ate a mouse. Yes, it was disgusting to watch but she was wicked fast (I tried but I couldn’t save the mouse). Echo was very proud of herself, indeed.

Comments
Comments: Snowshoes the whole day (except as noted on the private bridge). I love this route. Though we have a friend that snowshoed this yesterday (and he said there was a second person on the route) you definitely could not tell. The first mile plus of Fire Wardens was 2-4” in some places but mostly ankle deep with a lot of shin deep spots. It was warm so the snow was balling up on our snowshoes. It was slowgoing. We are exhausted but it is broken out now, LOL.
We tried to make a side trip to visit the harp switch on the other side of the Little River but I punched through with one foot, and that freaked us out a little. I’m fine and didn’t get wet. When things are colder again I will give it another try. I definitely want to see it!
We ran into a couple that we know but other than them there was no one else on Fire Wardens today. There was a group of 10-ish people that had come up Hale Brook and were headed down Lend A Hand so both of those trails got packed down today. There was a good amount of traffic on North Twin Trail so that is packed down as well!
We had so much fun!
