This was a quick, cold trip up to Bald Knob, we were sheltered from the wind most of the day but the wide 180 degree summit views (the best on the Castle in the Clouds property IMO) were very cold so unfortunately we didn't hang around too long. This is such a great beginner winter hike and great bang for your buck as its only about a 4.5 mile roundtrip hike with ~1000' elev gain and the views of the lake and Belknaps are outstanding! We wore spikes the entire hike since the cold temps kept the snow in tact. We only say about ~5 snowmobiles on the .7 miles of Shannon Brook, but other than that had the trails to ourselves. Great day in the Ossipee Range! |
