Couldn’t immediately find the start of Jewell Link since it was relocated. Did a bit of stomping around in the knee deep woods before throwing on snowshoes. Followed the old Jewell Link to where it finally met the current trail. There’s been some traffic out there but Jewell Link and Jewell are mostly unconsolidated and chewed up in parts by a bare booter. Above tree line there was one or two faint sets of tracks that could be made out in parts. Cairns weren’t terribly hard to follow. Mostly hard packed snow with spots of drifts and exposed rocks to Jefferson. Wind was killer today and erased most of our tracks by the time we were coming back through. Beautiful blue sky day otherwise, could see for miles. Watched a helicopter landing and flying around the summit of Washington. |
