Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Both crossings of Crawford Brook have snow bridges. Hopefully, they hold up with the upcoming warm weather.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in good condition. One fallen tree at the level of the snowpack. No problem to walk over. I recall that there was a tree fall across the A-Z Trail in January. I think it was cut. The Tom Spur Trail has some evergreen boughs crowding the trail near the summit. This problem may be resolved when the snow melts.

Comments
Comments: Decided to take a quick hike of Mt Tom to get back home before any precipitation started. There was a well-formed snowshoe track for the entire distance. Not sure how the forecasted storm will affect the surface conditions. It may get wet and then freeze on Friday. Today's snow surface was perfect for snowshoes with traction.
It was a good decision as there were great views from the two viewpoints near the summit of Mt Tom due to the elevation afforded by the deep snowpack.
As you get near the top of Mt Tom, there is a fork with the left track heading to the summit (buried cairn) and the west outlook to the Twins & Bond and the right track heading to the east outlook with views of the Presidential Range, Crawford Notch peaks, and Mt Carrigain.
The evergreens were covered in snow making for a winter wonderland.
No gray jays today.
Met hikers from Brunswick ME, Andover MA, and Clint and Gale from NH. Some of the hikers were heading further south on the Willey Range.
