Comments
Comments: Only two (my nephew and I on a traditional yearly get together hike) on the trail, used micros all the way to Garfield Ridge trail intersection, then changed over to snow shoes for the ascent of Garfield Ridge- blue skies opened up about 10:30, had beautiful panoramic views of Galehead/ the Twins/the Bonds/Franconia Range as well as Pressie's, which were cloud covered. As expected from Higher Summits forecast high winds ( consistent 50 with gusts up to 70 + ) as expected / prepared for, Garfield a great choice due to very short exposure distance /time back to treeline plus cover on the lee side of fire tower foundation.

NOTE: Garfield Ridge trail will have two sets of tracks about halfway up, follow the ones to the right, with deep snow/markers buried /trees bent over with snow lost the trail and bushwacked to the left, saw Galehead, made our way back right to find the big boulder at the summit which I am familiar with, came back down the correct way to meet up again at the spot we diverted too far left for a bit ! Enjoyed a great day with the nephew, 26 year tradition of a winter hike get together, the tradition continues.
