Comments
Comments: Success on my second attempt at this peak. (My first attempt was last November from Livermore Pass when I ran into a big wall of thick stuff after the southeast knob and had to turn around before dark.) No such issues today, starting at 10:00 I walked down the road maybe a tenth of a mile, then just aimed for the ridge at the lowest point. Pretty consistent woods on the way up, nothing terrible. Once I reached the open woods on the ridge I turned 90 degrees and went east. I couldn’t have asked for better conditions today, a firm base with a fresh inch on top, and not sticky, it stayed cool until 1:30 when I finished. I did move pretty slow on the way up to avoid sweating and fogging my glasses and got a little damp from the snow on the branches, but it was only a dusting and really not as bad as I expected. Signed into the canister, enjoyed some views, then went and explored the rest of the ridge west of where I had come up. I was hoping to find the K2 cliffs but I didn’t find them, just a partial view of Osceola. Then I turned back and followed my tracks back down. About 3.5 miles in 3.5 hours and 1000 feet of gain for the trip.
