I was able to wear snowshoes for the entire hike. The flex alp snowshoe traction worked well on the icy surfaces. The other hikers I met were not wearing snowshoes. I don't think they were adversely impacting the trail. However, hikers on a warmer day have post-holed on the trail. I was able to easily avoid these holes. There is a potential to create holes with tomorrow's forecasted warm temperatures.
Encountered a lot of frozen slush and ice on the trail, especially at lower elevation. The only tricky spots are the ledges uphill from the forest protection area sign. The ledges are all snow covered so they were easy to traverse.
I removed the snowshoes before ascending the historic fire tower. There is no pen or pencil to sign the logbook. The tower shook a bit in the wind.
Kearsarge North turned out to be a good pick as there was sufficient visibility to see other White Mountain peaks except for the Presidential Range that was enshrouded in clouds. The view of Carter Notch is particularly impressive.
