Comments
Comments: Trail was hard packed and temperatures were in the mid 20’s when we started at 8am. Went with micro spikes to the tent site where the warmer temps had made for some of the biggest snowballs I’ve ever walked on. Two of us Switched to snow shoes and one barefooted to the summit from that point. Our televators were a blessing for the last push to Franconia Ridge Trail, which looked broken out heading North (in case you’re interested). The short steep climb to Mt Liberty was not very consolidated. I was happy to do it in shoes! The winds were much milder than forecasted so we enjoyed lunch and pictures on this beautiful summit. The trail to Mt Flume looked well broken out. Most of the people we saw on the trail today had gone onto Flume Summit. Our goal was Mt Liberty today and we were happy to be here! The temperature rose all day making for a pretty soft trail on the descent. So snowshoes stayed on to the car. After the Flume Slide Trail junction, the cutoff North looked broken out. We continued on to the Bike Path and crossed over to the Whitehouse Tr back to the lot.
This is not a technical trail but it sure is steep! Great workout on a perfect day for Linda B’s #37, yay!
